We believe that the mind and
body are greatly connected, and hence, rigorous training in both are
absolutely essential in understanding how to achieve optimal wellness.
Just as a psychological problem such as anxiety weakens a person's
immune system, so does a physical problem such as fatigue affect a
person's mental well-being. In order to provide a comprehensive
treatment plan for the health needs associated with hypnosis, our
director Sera has completed extensive training from both holistic
training programs as well as highly esteemed academic settings.
Sera's
academic training began by obtaining a Bachelor of Science in biology
as well as psychology, while also obtaining a minor in Eastern
Philosophy. During this time she examined the mind/body relationship
intimately while working as a neuroscience researcher. After obtaining
her undergraduate degree, she received her MA in psychology with an
emphasis in psychoanalytic technique from New York University and is
currently obtaining her PhD in clinical psychology. While Sera does not practice as a psychologist or psychotherapist, she feels this training is essential for two important reasons. First, it enables her to understand the complex dynamics of behavior. Second, it allows her to know when a person's problem is outside of the realm of hypnosis and long-term psychotherapy is needed.
While traveling in Southeast Asia, Sera realized that westernized medicine does not have all of the answers and therefore, actively sought alternative methods of providing healthcare. Sera received her certification in hypnosis from the NLP Center of New York, where she obtained advanced training in hypnotherapy. She has helped numerous people overcome a broad range of issues and is a member of several organizations dealing with psychology, hypnosis and holistic medicine. In order to provide the best treatment available, Sera regularly attends lectures and completes ongoing training in the newest hypnotic techniques and holistic treatments.
