Our methodology:

Our method is considered hypnosis for the "non-suggestible".  This means that we do not practice hypnosis in terms of suggestibility, but in a way that enhances what you want to do.  This means that you are the person who wants to change, and the hypnosis simply makes you unable to focus on any thoughts that would impede that desire for change.  Thus, you end your internal conflict, as opposed to being a passive recipient of the hypnotist's will.

For instance, a person who is able to quit smoking cold turkey is able to summon enough internal strength to stop smoking as soon as they make the decision to not succumb to temptation.  A person who effectively loses weight is able to do the same.  Most of us, however, struggle because we are conflicted.  Hypnosis helps us to resolve that internal conflict so that instead of fighting with ourselves more and more, we are able to tap into that strength so that we can focus on change in the same way that those who can do it on their own, do naturally.

We believe that the mind and body are greatly connected, and hence, rigorous training in both are absolutely essential in understanding how to achieve optimal wellness. Just as a psychological problem such as anxiety weakens a person's immune system, so does a physical problem such as fatigue affect a person's mental well-being.

In order to provide a comprehensive treatment plan for the health needs associated with hypnosis, our director Sera Lavelle, has completed extensive training from both nationally renowned hypnosis training programs as well as highly esteemed academic institutions for Psychology in New York City.  After receiving her formal education in Clinical Psychology, which includes Master's Degrees from both Adelphi University and New York University and a concurrent PhD, Sera began to realize that traditional psychotherapy alone did not provide the answers that many people needed and actively pursued alternative treatments.  It is this dual emphasis that enables Sera to not only effectively eliminate the difficulty that the person is enduring, but also help them realize the reasons why the problem existed in the first place.

Victoria Phillipps, MA, CHt

Victoria is an NGH-certified master level hypnosis practitioner with special interest in motivation and stress management.  Victoria brings a unique background and blend of experience to NY Health Hypnosis.  After obtaining her bachelors degree in Clinical Psychology and an MBA from SUNY Buffalo, Victoria delved into working in large multi-national corporations for nearly a decade in NYC.  She noticed that while many people were extremely successful in their professional lives, the high level of stress compelled people to smoke, eat obsessively, lose their motivation and engage in a variety of destructive behaviors.  Through this, her interest in examining the effects of working in highly stressful environments burgeoned.  This understanding is what enables Victoria to successfully reverse these behaviors brought about by stress.
