1. What is online or virtual therapy?

Online or virtual therapy is much like traditional therapy; however, instead of meeting in our office, we meet using our HIPAA-compliant video platform (similar to Skype or FaceTime). The session is conducted similarly to an in-person session but is often more convenient because it eliminates the time constraints associated with meeting in person. Top

2. What are the advantages of working with NY Health Hypnosis & Integrative Therapy as opposed to other online therapy services?

The advantages of working with NY Health Hypnosis & Integrative Therapy are the training, education, and specialities of our therapists. As opposed to other online therapy platforms, NY Health Hypnosis is a private practice made up of NYC’s top integrative therapists who all hold Doctoral Degrees, specialize in treating specific issues, and are committed to mindfulness-based holistic practices. 3. How do I make an appointment for online therapy?

You can make an appointment through our online booking system or by contacting us via phone or email. Please see our appointments page to book online or to find our contact information. 4. How does your video system work?

Our patient portal makes accessing your appointment easy. After you schedule your first appointment, you will be asked a few questions to set up your patient portal. Once your patient portal is created, you will be able to view your upcoming appointments and all patient information, including your insurance statements and privacy documents.Ten minutes before your session begins, you will receive an email with a link and instructions to access our HIPAA-compliant video platform. You can also access this information at any time in your patient portal. At the time of your appointment, just click on the link from the email and you will be connected to your session from your computer. If you are using a phone or tablet, we suggest downloading the Simple Practice Telehealth App prior to your session. Please test your computer/tablet/phone before your therapy session to ensure everything is working properly and that you have a strong Wifi signal for the session. Top

5. How private/secure are the sessions?

All of our online/virtual sessions use a HIPAA-compliant video platform and are therefore just as private and confidential as an in-person therapy session. There are limitations to privacy, however, if you are not in a private location. Ensuring privacy on your end is essential to the online/virtual therapy process. Top

6. Are therapy and hypnotherapy effective when done virtually?

Research has shown that online therapy and hypnotherapy sessions have the same effectiveness as in-person sessions. In our experience, what’s most important is that you are sitting someplace comfortable and completely private where you can relax. Many of our clients feel more free to open up in virtual sessions when they are in a familiar place, which aids in the therapeutic process. Top

7. Does insurance cover out-of-network online/virtual therapy?

Most plans that cover in-person sessions will also cover online/virtual appointments. The CPT code and process for submitting your claim will be the same as for in-person therapy sessions. The only difference is that the location will be coded as telehealth as opposed to office visits on your insurance reimbursement statement. We suggest that you check with your health insurance company to verify your benefits. Please see our Rates & insurance page for more information about submitting your claims. Top
